Drenched in Knowledge

Last week, selected groups of Year 11 students participated in Drench Week. This is an intensive week of learning in either GCSE English or Maths for those chosen. The aim of this is for students to focus solely on their Maths or English work for the week. They are able to prepare and develop skills for both their upcoming mock exams in February, and their real Summer exams, with assistance from our dedicated teachers.

Our students worked incredibly hard over the course of the week. In Maths, students looked over practice, exam-style questions on a variety of topics, both calculator and non-calculator. Some of our Maths groups even got the chance to experience our fantastic 6th Form Campus, taking in the atmosphere and getting a sense of post-16 life at Lift Ryde whilst studying.

In English, groups annotated texts, following along with their teachers on the screen. They were able to identify methods, imagery, and ideas surrounding the context and meaning of war poems on the first day, and continued to work on these skills with other texts throughout the week.

Both the Maths and English Drench groups engaged amazingly with their work all week. We are very proud of their commitment to revision and improvement. We know that this preparation will go a long way towards them achieving their desired grades in their mock exams, and beyond.

Additionally, in their first Hospitality lessons after Christmas, Miss Knight’s Year 11s worked hard revising for their upcoming February Mock exam. They also had the opportunity to bake cookies and enjoy them whilst making their revision notes.

What a brilliant reward and incentive for our students to keep up the great work.

Well done, all!
