Behaviour

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of behaviour, ensuring every child can learn in a safe, respectful and focused environment.

We use a system of rewards and sanctions to encourage good behaviour, respect, and responsibility, while also addressing instances where expectations are not met. This system is designed to be fair, consistent, and supportive of student growth.

Rewards: Celebrating Success

We believe in recognising and celebrating the achievements and positive contributions of our students. Our reward system, based on House Points, is designed to acknowledge effort, progress, and exemplary behaviour. Students can earn House Points for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Academic Excellence: Exceptional work in class, consistent effort, and showing significant improvement.
  • Positive Behaviour: Demonstrating respect, kindness, and responsibility; following school rules; and being a positive role model for others.
  • Contribution to School Community: Active participation in extracurricular activities, house challenges, volunteering, helping others, and representing the school positively.
  • Effort and Perseverance: Showing resilience, overcoming challenges, and demonstrating a commitment to learning.

Earning House Points

Students can earn House Points from teachers and other staff members. These points are recorded and tracked, contributing to both individual and House totals. Parents and carers get an automatic email home to let them know that their child has been awarded a House Point. We encourage you to celebrate your child’s success at home. We have a running total of House Points so students can track how their House is doing. This can be found here.

Redeeming House Points

Accumulated House Points can be redeemed for a wide range of exciting rewards, designed to motivate and inspire our students. These rewards include:

  • Experiences: Trips to exciting destinations like Thorpe Park, Ninja Warrior, and other venues. We run two trips per year where the top 50 students from all houses are invited.
  • Hot Chocolate Friday
  • Ice Pop Friday
  • Vouchers: Top scoring students from all Houses also receive vouchers at various points in the year.

Sanctions: Addressing Concerns

Unfortunately, sometimes students may make choices that do not meet with our school's values and expectations. In these instances, we use a system of sanctions, often referred to as "R's," to address the behaviour and help students learn from their mistakes.

Understanding "R's"

An "R" is recorded when a student's behaviour falls short of the standards outlined in our Behaviour Policy. This could include, but is not limited to:

  • Disruptive Behaviour: Interfering with the learning of others or creating a disturbance in the classroom or other school areas.
  • Disrespectful Behaviour: Showing disrespect to teachers, staff, or other students through words or actions.
  • Non-compliance: Refusing to follow instructions or school rules.
  • Unacceptable Language: Using inappropriate or offensive language.
  • Bullying: Engaging in any form of bullying, harassment, or intimidation.
  • When your child is issued with a sanction, you will receive an automatic email home with details of this. We encourage parents and carers to contact the staff member who has issued this if they would like more information or to discuss this further.
