Homework is an important part of learning and enables students to develop their independence and resilience across the curriculum.
At Lift Ryde, homework is an essential part of the learning journey. It reinforces classroom teaching and helps students strengthen their long-term memory through regular recall and retrieval practice. Homework is designed to consolidate key knowledge, extend understanding, and develop independent learning habits that prepare students for future study and employment.
We believe effective homework should be purposeful, manageable, and rewarding. Tasks are carefully planned to support progress — whether through quizzing, revision, extended reading, or creative application. Our approach is grounded in educational research, particularly the principles of spaced practice, retrieval practice, and interleaving, which are proven to deepen understanding and support long-term retention of knowledge.

Using PiXL parent pamphlets is a strategy designed to help students develop exam related stamina and resilience in the period before they take their exams. Research shows that many students face mental health issues and struggle to deal with pressure, expectations and the feelings of overwhelm.
Students will be sitting exams for a longer period which will be harder. Students need to understand how to look after themselves, both physically and mentally, by developing healthy habits, so they are in the best possible state to perform.
