The end of the half term also saw our Year 7 boys football team crowned champions in A Golden Performance a brilliant final against the Bay. Mr Pitman has written up the following report:
After a really closely fought reverse fixture the students were going to have to pull out something special in order to come out victors, and mid-way through the first half that's exactly what Natan W pulled out! He cut in and fired home to put Lift Ryde 1-0 up at half time.
Credit is due to the Bay for their resilience, as they answered back with some individual quality themselves to level the match. Later into the second half, after some brilliant linkup play, Leo K calmly put us back in the lead. Harry P then came through with the third, showing his leadership and calibre as always. After an hour of quality football, with The Bay never giving up, we found ourselves level at 3-3.
Penalties were to decide it! All four brave Lift Ryde takers kept their cool and fired home, and the game was won by a brilliant sudden death save from Harry D in goal.
An amazing end to a brilliant year of football for our extremely talented year 7's, who were worthy winners! Their collective efforts throughout the season have led to them developing a brilliant, close-knit group that will only continue to bring success to the school in future years!
