490 Careers Week

For the duration of last week, selected students in Years 7, 8 and 9 participated in ‘490 Careers Week’ Sessions.

Over the five days, students were visited by a number of different external speakers, who discussed different careers, and gave valuable advice on future pathways, both in terms of education and jobs.

Sessions ranged from information on vocational courses such as T- Levels and Apprenticeships, workshops on creative thinking and research, and talks from Historians and Publishers.

Our students sat and listened to all sessions attentively, asking insightful questions and taking in what each visitor had to say about their area of expertise. Not only this but our students got to take part in hands-on activities alongside these informative talks, from designing characters that have their dream careers, to crafting creatures from different materials. and looking at, discussing, and even trying on items from the past!

It was a week filled with useful Careers starting points for our youngest year groups. With our Year 9 Options selection process now in full swing, it is never too early to think about what you may like to do in the future!

Thank you to our students for being so engaged and representing our school so well. We know that they found these sessions very useful and took lots to think about away from them.

We also must thank all external providers who came in and gave up their time to inspire our students, and Miss Hodges for organising such a motivational event for our students. We are sure they are now ready to start chasing their dreams!
